Psychatlanta, formally Northwest Behavioral Medicine and Research Center, was founded in 1995 by Michael Banov MD, board certified in adolescent, adult and addiction psychiatry. He is also a certified clinical research investigator and board certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Medical College of Georgia.
Psychatlanta has provided comprehensive mental health care to the Atlanta community through our outpatient psychopharmacology clinic, treatment resistant mood and anxiety services, integrative and holistic psychiatric program, and psychiatric clinical research center. We have board certified psychiatrists and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) with specialized training in diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Banov and his staff have been investigators for most every psychiatric medication on the market today and are actively involved in research on new and innovative treatments in development. The practice is a training ground for medical students and psychiatric residents.
We partner with individual counselors and psychotherapy practices around city to provide psychiatric medication management to many of their patients. Some of those therapists see patients on site at one of our two offices in our Roswell/Alpharetta and Marietta, Georgia locations.
Our patients have the benefit of working with experienced mental health clinicians who are familiar with traditional psychiatric treatments for most conditions, but also with more complex and difficult to treat cases. Most of our clinicians have a background in more integrative/holistic approaches for those interested in those types of services. Our emphasis is not simply managing symptoms but treating people with the goal of getting well. Our treatment approaches may include medication, lifestyle changes, nutritional strategies, and a variety of evidence based counseling/psychotherapy treatments.
